Alex Escher

Founder of Hemp Hollow Processing, LLC Alex is a board member of the US Hemp Building Association (USHBA), a member of the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) International and Director of Hemp Fiber Applications at Escher Design Inc. An entrepreneur with a keen eye for disruptive industries, he was intrigued with the far-reaching possibilities of hemp fiber composites in the building sector. To that end, he joined the Vermont based architecture firm, Escher Design, to develop cost effective applications using hemp bio-composites. After the firm was awarded the first permitted hempcrete structure designation in 2017 from Denver, Colorado, Alex crafted a mobile bucking and trimming company to service the nascent CBD and cannabis markets in the North East.

With Hemp Hollow Processing, ASTM and the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) he is developing standards to keep employees safe from inhalation exposure to toxic levels of cannabis dust, throughout the post harvest process and beyond.

In addition to his numerous roles, Alex speaks nationally to educate and share his expertise at conferences and universities including Rutgers University, the University of Vermont Extension and Yestermorrow Design /Build School.
